Turkey Season

I have been out twice this year so far. Both trips I have seen and heard birds, didn't get anything yet. What makes this so cool is that I am hunting on public land.This is a new experience for me. I have been use to hunting on leased land and had to share the flock with the other members of our hunt club.

Hunting public land, so far, has been better than I rembered it from 10 and 25 years ago. I have as much competition from other hunters but our hunting time has been limited so the birds are constantly being harassed by us hunters.

I hope my future public land hunts over the next year prove as enjoyable.

Marshall's Marine 2008 Outdoors Expo

On January 18 & 19, 2008 Marshall's Marine will have their annual Outdoor Sports Expo. This show is usually pretty good. In the past they have had guest's like Bill Dance, Hank Parker, Roland Martin, Davy Hite, Forrest Wood, & Earl Bentz. Also they have seminars on Bass & Striper fishing, Cast Netting, Flounder Gigging, and Labrador Retriever Demos. All major marine manufacturers will have a presence there also. For the money (FREE) this is one of the best boat shows to attend in the eastern Carolina's.

Hunting and Fishings Economic Impact

The Trianagle Business Journal has an article about the $1.7 billion dollar impact that hunting and fishing has on the Tar Hill state. Maybe our politicians should consider outdoor sports economic impact on our state and local economies everytime they want to give some low cost manufacturer a fee in lieu of taxes deal. If the elected powers that be, put those funding dollars more to recreation service businesses they might actually create more lasting jobs than the low cost producer give aways do.

False Start

This site "false started"  17 months ago. We are now ready to produce the outdoor website that I have had in mind for over three years. This site is not only dedicated to those outdoor pursuits such as hunting and fishing, but also outdoor photography, paddling, hiking, and any other fun outdoor activity.

Its Started

Tonite, I went out to Cedar Grove Plantation to take care of some hunt club business, When the member  I went to see got in from hunting, he had a velvet spike (ok 3 point) buck down.

Bow season began on the 15th of August here in South Carolina. After seeing that deer -- I just might have to go hunting tomorrow afternoon. The fever has begun ...
